Made the change back to tube kites for this season for a couple reasons:

1. I got shoulder tendinitis a couple years ago after riding a switchblade 3 with gigantic throw and the stopper system which just didn't work and became an industry joke....
2. I therefore had to look for a kite with short throw and soft steering as my left shoulder was so bad I couldn't put my arm even half way up my back.
3. Also the 2009 range of tube kites at the time available locally were uninspiring and the American dollar was way strong compared to ours....

Now that my shoulder has improved somewhat and I have switched to mainly surfboard riding I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to my 10m doona.

Due to various production holdups and issues with Eclipse kites during the Nth Hemisphere Summer I have been able to buy 2 kites and 1 bar for less than 1 kite locally. I would like to point out that I support local shops and have bought kites and numerous accessories from excellent stores with great staff and service. That said, if I can get a bargain from OS at half the price as local prices then I will take that option when it suits me. I have a local inexpensive kite repairer in case of tears and warranty is not so much of a problem although these kites actually come with a 1 year repair warranty regardless of how you damage the kite! Cost to send the kite back for repair approx $30-$40 one way.....

So I purchased 2 Eclipse Kima's 12m and 9m - the 9m cost AUD $600 delivered from NZ! 12m I had to order from the US as NZ rep didn't stock the 12m - it cost USD $1090 delivered with bar and lines, both kites came thru customs without attracting tax or duties. I have ordered 3 kites in the past from the US when they were selling them out and each time NO duties or taxes added by customs. Our free trade agreement with the US flags items above $1000, under that they are normally (my experience) tax and duty free! I am extremely happy with my new kites as I now have 2 wave dedicated kites to cover me from 15-35knots...

I look forward to improving my wave riding with my new toys and if anyone wants a 9m Kima wave kite for around AUD $600 just contact Ralph at TKS http://www.kiteboardingshop.co.nz/kites_09/kites.htm
